Three Principles of Organizational Agility

You have a choice of a multitude of frameworks, methods, and processes to help you achieve that elusive goal, organizational agility. Each of them claims to be the One Answer you will ever need. I have never seen a single framework, method or process work. Instead, I’ve seen three principles, applied all the way through the organization work. Those principles are collaboration, management excellence, and technical excellence.
This is actually lean product development applied to the organization.

Learn how the principles free you to use whatever framework, method, or process you desire, as long as you adhere to these principles:

  1. How to think about collaboration at all levels. Explain flow efficiency.
  2. How to create measures that work (lean accounting/flow measures, not cost accounting)
  3. How to experiment based on management collaboration for the project portfolio
and the products. (If you’re an IT org, don’t worry. You have products, too.)
  4. What management excellence is.
  5. What technical excellence is.
